Odds and Ends
CHOLLERTON PARISH COUNCIL Proposed Parish / Community PlanMany of you will be aware that there are many changes afoot regarding how Northumberland is to be controlled in future. In particular there will be a reduction in the number of councillors and much more input from communities will be sought. Bearing this in mind we are proposing to develop a plan of how our community is to develop. We cannot prevent change but working together we can influence it. This is your opportunity to be involved in determining the shape of our community for the next 10+ years.
A Parish Plan is a shared vision for our community and will contain a detailed action plan for achieving this vision. We are asking you to be involved - to define the issues to be realised.
We can influence decisions regarding local needs, prioritise resources and can provide important grass roots information to influence the policies, decisions and actions of others, in particular the new unitary authority. In this new environment of local government we have to stand together otherwise our voice will not be heard. We need the support of the community.
We can all have a say in the development of this Community Plan thus we need your help - to decide on what actions are to be taken in our community.
The plan when completed will have proposals which can be undertaken by community members, be part of the decision making process regarding our service providers, the local authority and act as evidence of need when applying for funding.
To achieve a solid and relevant parish plan we need your help. Will you spare some of your valuable time to assist in the development of this plan? In the course of the next few weeks we will be contacting key members of our community to ask for their help. In the meantime if you feel you can help in any way please contact us?

MEALS ON WHEELS
Volunteers are wanted to help deliver meals –on-wheels approximately one hour per month. There is a fuel allowance of 40p per mile. I may ask the volunteer to cook the occasional meal during the holidays for which you are reimbursed. Please contact Vicky Gaisford if you can help on tel no 681448. .

Hadrian Awards 2007
Gunnerton Church has been given a prestigious Hadrian Award. Hadrian Awards celebrate and promote the best in architecture and design of the built environment in the North East and Cumbria.
To be selected for an award, schemes must meet a number of criteria, including being fit for purpose, and be an innovative trail-blazer. Both these aspects of the Award and more have been met.
The award is a tribute to Vincente Stienlet of Gosforth, our architect, who was sympathetic to the heritage of the church, the needs of the congregation and the community.
